The very last Caladan ever...
Caladan one was THE party that made me who I am today. I was a raver in the 90s and I had only gone to one outdoor party (Electrosphere) before that, but Caladan was the first event I ever attended where I felt something truly spiritual. I can't explain it. There's no costumes, insane visuals, decorated stages, and it is all donation based. However, there have been marriage proposals, people flying in from around the country, some of the most well tuned sound I've ever heard, new party crews formed, lifelong friends met... It is oe of those annual magical events that just is. I don't have to convince anyone to go, because every year, the *right* people go. So many of my best and closest friends were made during this annual event because year after year, people, strictly through word of mouth, told their friends they needed to go because the vibe was so thick, the people are great, and the music was the best in underground talent.
The Stormriders are the first group of people from dance events that felt like family to me and I can't believe it was so long ago. I am a DJ because of them. I organize events because of them. I am a hardcore because of them. I do what I do because they showed me how it could be done. For a lot of people all over the US, this party marks the end of an era.
This is not a Burner event, but if you remember or have ever been curious about the oldschool outdoor rave days, this is what it is about. If you have never been to a real underground event before, please go with someone who has so they can tell you all the dos and don't of partying all stealth-like.
This will also be the only time I ever put my name out as Zark Mabala on any lineup ;-)

The party is located East of Apple Valley between the 15 and Big Bear. Make sure to check the infoline before you head out as this information can change at any time.
= Things To Know =
- There is an infoline: [removed] . Call it for last minute updates and directions.
- Do not send this email to any other lists (unless you have asked us first)!
- We need volunteers. We need people to help with a variety of things including parking, bathroom setup, trash patrol, etc. If any of this
sounds interesting or if you just want to help, contact [removed].
- Caladan X will start earlier than usual. We will be having a huge BBQ filled with Carne Asada and Coronas. Many of us will be at the location at 5pm to eat some good ass food, drink some beer, and help setup. This is going to be a great time to chit-chat, catch up with old friends, and generally just chill before the madness begins.
- There will be a special Sunrise Surprise. If you were at our Five Year Anniversary you know what's coming. Bring Kleenex.
- As usual we will be in the desert. It's going to be hot. Come prepared! Bring shade structures, chairs, a change of clothes, and
plenty of water. It's not like this is your first desert party, you know the drill.
- This is the last Caladan. We are not going to change our minds. Only you are going to help us make this an event that no one will ever
forget, just like Caladan I.
"So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish."

Mark Zabala plays a wide variety of styles, but he tends towards driving and psychedelic sounds mixed in with a good dose of percussive funk.
